1972 P Ike Dollar - Diva #.... 2T1-101

Post by shasta7 » Sat Feb 04, 2017 5:19 pm

While going thru more of my Ike dollars that were put away years ago...
I found about 1/2 dozen more 1972 P Eisenhower Dollar that have the small baseball cap image
& other Type II March Markers... This is Diva # 2T1 -101 (Aka: March Type II OBV paired with
Type I REV Die...)

I will be selling these for $50.00 each plus Shipping & Handling.... (S & H is approx. $5-$7)
If anyone is interested in obtaining one of these let me know.... they are a great addition
to any Ike Dollar Coin Collectors collection....

See more under Diva area - 1972 P Type I

I must add-on here. A 2T1-101 is likely a rare coin and an excellent addition to an Ike collector's inventory!

Ok Steve... The coin is on it's way...

On a side note... I just went thru approx. 500 1972-P Type I Ikes....
the coins were being held by an old time dealer... & he gave me the opportunity to go
thru them... I found a few dozen clashed coins with Talon Heads, HL, JL, ML, etc....
but I was shocked to NOT find even one of the Diva 2T1-101's... so with this news I
surmise that these will be very hard to find... I have 2 NEW rolls on the way so I will
see what they will have once I get them....

Happy Hunting...

Pulled out a roll of 72-P Ikes today. There were 11 Type 3 and 9 Type one.
One of which was the 2T1-101 The "N Pimple" was barely there, but the "Baseball Cap" was solid! :P

I got all excited about my find and went through 5 other rolls that were mostly Type 1's and struck out cold!

Brian... that is great you found one... & glad you found one.... they are very hard to get....

By the way... I did get my 2 other BU rolls I had purchased... went thru them... & did NOT find any either.... there were about 4 or 5 Type III... NO type II's... a couple clashed coins but nothing outstanding....

Again, thanks Brian for sharing... anyone else want to share their finds??? All are welcome to comment...

Brian,
Nice find!! Yes, the pimple and neck die scratch markers are way more subtle due to the obverse being a later die state than the 2T2-102.1 and 2T2-101.2
I've never found one in the wild. I'm envious. I have sourced mine from Shasta7 - the ultimate finder and first reporter of this variety.

Thanks guys
I'll send this one in to get slabbed to add to my PCGS DIVa Set and add to the DIva Pop Report. Won't grade real high...63-ish, but at least it will be one more Diva "reference coin" to have on hand.

Happy Hunting!

Brian... can you check your newly found 2T1-101 coin for markers on REV...

Can you look for the following.... die line between (lower) O&L of dollar & also right
side of 2nd L & lastly, small die line under the bar (right side) of A of Dollar.... so far
every one of the 2T1-101's I have or seen with the baseball cap's have these markers...
which leads me & Steve to think it is paired with only 1 die... which shows why these
are so rare.... thanks in advance...

Has anyone else found anymore of these Diva's 2T1-101's???

Man, you guy's are getting pretty nit-picky here, but low-and-behold, there was a little "die line" where you said it would be in the A ! :)
I was sold at the "baseball cap" but I guess you have to take it to the reverse as well to TOTALLY verify it.
Perhaps a one-die variety, that wasn't a "full run" and had a very limited die life?

Happy Hunting!
