Clashed Ikes

Post by Windycity » Thu Oct 18, 2012 7:58 pm

I recently picked up a small hoard of Ikes including these two coins. I welcome opinions.

The first is a 1971-D Peg Leg with double talon head clash.

The second is a 1971-D Talon Head with a very strong double reverse moon clash.

How about that, we just had another individual post the exact same 71D peg leg with the double talon head. Unfortunately, his is obverse is not in as great a shape as this one. Your's looks like a nice MS65 on the obverse, but, the reverse looks absolutely AU when looking at the eagle. I presume it's just not fully struck, since the rest of the reverse devices look pretty clean and crisp.

The double talon clash is graded MS-64 by PCGS... the other MS65+ by PCGS.
