IDDDO-98 71-S BS S IDDDR-83-WH-9 IDDP-87

Post by Rob407 » Thu Jun 27, 2013 6:23 pm

I have a unattributed 1971 S NGC MS66 DDO with the marking of the IDDDO-98 71-S BS S IDDDR-83-WH-9 IDDP-87.

Nice doubling seen on "IN GOD WE TRUST" and the date . The Reverse has a large die gouge on eagles left wing.

I have no pictures, but there are some at http://www.ikedollardoubledie.com/iddd-1971-s-ddos.php
Question: Is there a TPG service that will attribute the (nice) wing die gouge.

Tom has arranged with ANACS to put the IDDD catalogue # on the holder. I'm not sure if it has to go through Tom first for attribution , or if ANACS does the attribution in house. I'm also not sure if ANACS would put the wing die gouge on the label.

Thanks…this is a very unique coin…I am assuming there are very few reported…I had the coins for a long time…looked at several times without noticing the wing die gouge…my previous reviews was only locked in on the DDO/R markers.

Rob407,
It would have been best to start a new topic with this new post. I don't see how it relates to the original topic at all.

That said, this is coin is a nice one to see. The metal that was struck through appears to be about the same size as the nightcrawler!!! It would be nice to photograph it on my equipment and get a measurement - and then compare it to the nightcrawler.

If the same dimension as the nightcrawler, and the fact that it is on a 71S SB (not a SP), would tend to support that hypothesis that the material could be a metal cast-off from a mint shop instrument, such as a metal brush, for example.
