Rev of a 73-p cu bs , letters and die lines

Post by goldbill » Mon Sep 28, 2015 12:44 pm

I am new to Ikes so bear with me, I have a 1973-p cu bs, still in mint plastic with, to me, unusual markings.
The rev. letters of one dollar have a die line coming from the upper left side of the letters. Most noticeable on the letter D, ( see pic ).
my questions are:
- What is this mark known as?
-What caused it to be there, the process?
- does it carry any significance as to value or to collectors?
- Any other relevant info, if any.
Thanks, goldbill.

Could it be there from very small spread doubling?
I doubt that it is a "trail die" effect from looking at the photos.
