So i got a question about this 78-d.. Its very clean although the pics dont show it as well.. It seems to have small amount of cartwheel but the odd thing to me is it looks like a mirror.. is it just an early die state or?? you can see the reflection of my finger in the first photo.. just curious as your thought opinions

It's a little blurry, but that could just be the ridiculous luster. Cleaned, bigtime - like, someone used a buffing wheel!

I would think if buffed, the cartwheel would go away? MYbe not though.. It's crisp.. Wish I could take better photos

No, I was just being over the top with buffing wheel. It does, however, look like a classic cleaning job. It has all the looks, like no super-shiny surfaces around the base of all the devices. The eye on the eagle is crystal clear due to the incuse circle around it for the same reason; they just done stand out like that. It was rubbed with something.

The only other method that would possibly do that and leave that kind of look is electropolishing.

I agree that something has been done.. No changes after doing a soak in acetone
