Long Time Coming

Post by 19Lyds » Sat Jan 13, 2018 4:11 am

Or have I been Sleeping?

Got an email from PCGS about items in Great Collections that were coming up for bid that would upgrade my registry sets.
Coin looks like crap but I was thinking, what that heck and was about to slap a $500 bid on it.

The adult in me took over for just 1 second and said, "What;s the current Price Guide Value for this piece of crap?"

Opening up the price guide, I about spit my coffee out!

PR70DCAM = $500 ??

Rubbed my eyes, clear my throat, took another gulp of coffee, leaned in and looked.......yep! $500

71S PR70DCAM - $500

73S PR70DCAM - $2250

74S PR70DCAM - $525

76S PR70DCAM is still in 4 Figures and 77S PR70DCAM and 78S PR70DCAM are free since they're not even on the list.

Price Adjustments which have been a Long Time Coming or has reality finally set in with PCGS?

Regardless, I am sooooo glad I didn't jump into the 4 figure fray on the 71S, 72S an 74S PR70DCAM price pool.
I cannot and will not be held responsible for my typing errors as it appears that there is a bug in the keyboard!
........I've tried on numberous occasions to fix the problme but it just keeps coming back agin and again! -L. Lydston 2008

I said a while back that I see 70 DCAM Ikes settling around $500. As much as the hobby is plummeting the last few years with Baby Boomers starting to exit (one way or another), and the younger generations having little to no interest as compared to the older generations, I'm not sure proof Ikes won't go even lower by 2020.

You already know my stance on the horrible overgrading of Proof Ikes, but with the massive influx of 70s in the last 5 years, there's bound to be some small percentage in there that might actually be true 70s.

15 years ago you had to buck up $7,500 - $15,000 for 70 DCAM, and all you got was an overgraded 68 or 69. At least now a days you only have to pay 5% of that for a mis-labeled 69. That's my positive for the thread....

Wow: thinking about the folks who bought these 5 and 10 and 15 years ago and held them.
