Odd marking on coin

Post by Chris krasnai » Thu Aug 10, 2017 11:38 pm

Hi thanks for the add:)I'm a real newbie to this but I've always had a great interest in coins and metal detecting. I got a batch of Ike's today and was gong thru them and found this odd one. There's a circle around the inner part of the coin. Do you think this was done by someone or is it a flaw? Thanks

Picture is too blurry to tell. Chances are it's just post-minting damage for something that symmetrical.

Welcome! Sometimes those circular marks near the outer edges of the coin are caused by the coin being stuck for a long time in a coin counting machine.

Happy Hunting!

Welcome to the Ike group. :D

Could slot machines also leave marks like this?

Hmmmm, I don't know about that. It looks more like it's pressed on. I wonder if slot machines take silver dollars.:)
