I was wondering has anyone every seen an ike coin that the eagle on the reverse has no eye. I have one and sent it off to NGC for grading, but they said it was not an error that they recognize. It is a 1971-D. Does any one have any ideas on getting this error recognized by NGC? Has anyone ever seen this? Any help wold be greatly appreciated. NGC graded it AU53. Mark

I wouldn't call it an error as well. Details lost in circulation wear. It might have, as a remote possibility, have been a die adjustment strike originally, but since it is now circulated and showing circulation wear, they're not going to bite on that possibility. Just MHO.
