Mint Error Question

Post by Rob407 » Wed Apr 12, 2017 3:20 pm

When submitting the 1SB-406 aka “Wounded Wing” to NGC would it be wise to check both blocks – variety plus (NGC VP-007) and mint error (wounded wing). And request the wording of “struck thru debris” written on the label.

Hubbed through debris, not struck through debris.
Give it try. Let us know if it works.

Check with Bryan, but he asked me the same things a few years back and I actually gave him the very same answer Steve gave you - might have been on a Nightcrawler before we publicized them. Don't remember. NGC did indeed put it on the label if I'm recalling the story correctly.

Check with Bryan.

I submitted six wounded wing coins for NGC grading and I received two each VP-007 MS64/65/66. NGC did not respond to my request to add hubbed thru debris to the label.

My fingers are crossed on this one -- I sent the following inquiry to PCGS:
I have a question about your error labeling. If submitted under mint error review, would PCGS label the following PCGS cert 30434898 as a DDO motto (VP-007) and hubbed through debris error on the reverse (third feather left wing).

In my experience: "good luck, but definitely don't hold your breath..."
