Help from some of you experts?

Post by Badactor67 » Fri Sep 27, 2013 4:15 pm

First off I would like to say I am glad to be part of the Forum. I just Joined. Background is in collecting High grade silver and gold coins. Both proof and MS. Mostly TPG graded. Although Many ungraded but alway in pristine condition with an eye for the coins potential for an increase in value based on Mintage #'s and POP figures in MS70, PF70, SP70 or just raw mint packaged bullion or proofs and storing them for posterity.

I have a son, am a bachelor, own and run a manufacturing company in Cleveland, Ohio. I have recently become interest in variety coins because I bought some lots of Peace and Morgans to my surprise there was a huge potential for variety value in those coins that I read a lot about and subsequently had a long meeting with the #1 VAM registry guy at VAMWORLD, He happened to live close by.

That is my basic story. Hello to ALL!

Anyway that brought me to Ikes. And the even greater potential I see for that market seeing as I can still get them 1-1. I read the Ike groups book and it was fascinating.

I had 500 Ikes I had stored from a couple years ago so I started going through them. Starting with 1971-d 's only looking for the obvious FEV.

1. If someone could give me an opinion on what I think is a weakly struck 1971 D FEV.

Just starting so any help would GREAT!
Go easy on me! LOL I'm new. And HOPE the Pictures upload properly!
The 1971 D to me appears to have all the right pick up points. I had about 40-60 1971 D's I searched.

Thanks in advance!
JJ

Anyone know how to send this to the 1971-d FEV thread?

TIA

I do have an odd 1972 to post when I get a chance!

Hello!

First off, glad to have you, you've come to the right place. I can get your post moved to the right spot, but it's really not a major deal either way. No worries. I suggest clicking on "View active topics" a the upper left and setting that as a bookmark. That way you'll always see the most recent posts and topics.

As your first official post I'll be the one to break the news: That's not an FEV. Looks like your picture are just fine and loaded right, as consolation.

Check out or search the older posts, we have many FEV pictures to help you out.

Great to have another person with coin collecting background moving into Ikes.

Remember, to search those 500 for more than just the big varieties (like 72 T2 and 71D T1 FEV). In particular, check those D MMs for RPMs: http://www.ikedollardoubledie.com/rpms.php

In general, I'll check coins systematically for:
major varieties
peg legs
double dies
RPMs
clashes
die cracks and other oddities

With 500 to search, you're going to see a number of the above.
