That would be one of the markers for the DIVa 1D1-402 "Cuddly TED"!
The question is: Is the die state pre-Cuddly TED die crack or not?

And just to confirm, "crack head" obverse?

Picked up a few raw FEV's and took them to FUN for submission a couple of months ago.
The sole proof is a FS-106.
Line # Item # Cert # PCGS No. Description Grade Country
1 1 33423871 7407 1971-D $1 MS66 USA
2 1 33423872 7407 1971-D $1 MS65 USA
3 1 33423873 7407 1971-D $1 MS66 USA
4 1 33423874 7407 1971-D $1 MS65 USA
5 1 33423875 7407 1971-D $1 MS64 USA
6 1 33423876 97428 1971-S $1 Silver, DC PR67DC USA

All 71-D'd are FEV's.
Three of these are CT's (Cuddly TEDs). The (2) 65's have the TED crack and one 66 is Pre-TED Crack.
All three CT's have the "crack-head", sharp REV's and none have that die scratch below OF or show any signs of abrasion.
I think the best marker (besides MMP) is the die scratch on the Obv. below the Y. All (3) clearly have that.

The other 66 FEV seems to be an RPM...VEDS and the BIG upper (lopsided) part of the D with a big notch.
Doesn't match the other (3) FEV RPM's (3.4 or 11)....and is much more evident than either of those (3).

Now for the 2nd trip to PCGS for attribution and True View (and hopefully a + or two!)

Happy Hunting!

Holy Cow, nice grades Brian. Please educate me on the + designation...How would you now gain that after grading?

Thanks, Bob!
I have a "Slingshot Y" in a 66 holder as well to go in with them. The idea is that they will hopefully see that one is nicer than the other ones
of the same grade and reward it with a + (plus).
I believe they have to be sent in under "Reconsideration" and check off the "Variety Attribution" and this time I'll go"True View" as well.
I've never done this, so I'll call first to make sure. Will share results when they get back.

Happy Hunting!

Brian, please check again. I found the low O_F die scratch on all of the Cuddly TEDs and the pre-cuddly TED that I examined (and I have one more pre-Cuddly TED at home that I have yet to check).

I'm just not seeing it on these (3). The (2) 65's have a super-clean field and should be easy to discern.
