WTB: PCGS 2013 Eisenhower Half-Dollar Commems.

Post by DoubleJ » Sun Jul 21, 2013 10:30 am

Has anyone had any luck in locating a source for the 2013 PCGS Proof and Uncirculated Eisenhower Commemorative Half-Dollars? I've checked all the usual places, i.e., Teletrade, Great Collections, eBay, Modern Coin Mart, CoinFame, and JMS, but to no avail.

Please, just point me in the right direction.

Thanks, DoubleJ

Are you talking about the 5 Star Generals Coin?

Yes, the 2013 5-star general half-dollar commemoratives. The silver dollar versions are readily available, but the TPG halves are non-existent, so far.

I also have the 2013 PCGS PR69DCAM and MS69 5-star Eisenhower Dollar. What I am fruitlessly looking for is the Half-Dollar versions of the Eisenhower 5-star commemorative.

Eventually, the half-dollars will surface. My guess is that it appears the 5-star general program is not the most appealing US Mint product, with the exception of full-set commemorative collectors and Eisenhower dollar fans. When the Eisenhower half-dollars do become available, there should be interest to these select groups, at least, until we have the dollar and half-dollars in our sets.

There is the slight possibility that the Half-Dollar commemorative could some day be a key commemorative in a complete Eisenhower set, if the Eisenhower dollar continues to gain popularity in the general collecting community and what seems to be the current lack of interest in the TPG'ed Half-Dollars.

I guess, the search will be a daily "to do" until I locate a source. At that point, the price of the PR and MS versions will be irrelevant. Thanks for you time and interest.

Eisenhower is on the silver dollar not on the half,,,,,,,,,,,

Hap Arnold & Omar Bradley are on The 5 Star General Half.

GrandAm -

Apparently, I've been wrong from the start on "whom-was-on-what" with the 5-star generals program. I appreciate you setting me straight!

If a person is going to be wrong, it just as well be in front of everyone! Live and learn.

Thanks, DoubleJ
