Dipping Brown Ikes

Post by Bman33 »

So a couple of years ago I dipped a 1971 Brown Ike in order to get the blue fog off in ezest. I only had it in the solution for half a second. The coin actually looks pretty decent. I don't know if a coin grading company would give it a details grade. It's hard for me to find Brown Ikes without the blue fog. Anyone else struggle with this? What about thoughts on dipping?

If you are skilled at dipping, then have at it for most Ikes. For high value Ike varieties, or if you are not skilled at dipping Ikes, consider a TPG restoration service.

Dipping silver Ike's is not so tricky, but I would agree if it is a high end rarity, leave it to the Ikesperts ;) I have dipped piles of the run of the mill hazed ones and personally wouldn't be afraid to dip the ' good ' ones. Tnx
as a side note, I've had quite a few Morgans and Peace dollars that have been dipped , usuall they just don't look so good IMHO. Some do though.
