1974-D $1 Eisenhower Dollar, POSSIBLE NEW DDO

Post by UScoinshop1977 »

I bought a bank roll of IKES this past week. Luckily I had a piss pure seller who didn't package the roll worth a dang. The roll was split when I got it. I originally wasn't going to open it. Well fait had other plans for me.
I found this 1974-D DDO.
It's a " Peg Leg " also.
Anyway, does this look like the MDO for 1974-D? I have compared to many 74-D's that I have and it doesn't match any.
It looks like a strong extra thickness with a separation at the top going northeast. There looks to be a extra thickness on the date IGWT and LIBERTY.
I just wanted to know if this is MDO doubling. I really don't think that it is.
Thank you for your time.

That doubling is real. Nice NTR die crack as well, BTW. And you say it is a peg leg?

Yes sir, I will post the pictures when I get back.

So from your standpoint it doesn't look like a master die doubled obv to you?

Thank you for your response.

If there is tripling in the notches, then it is stand-alone.

I may be wrong about the " Peg Leg ". It looks to be one, however there's one of those pesky brown corrosion spots at the bottom leg of the R.
There are die scratches all over the obverse.
I tried to capture the larger one.

What area do you need to see that would prove TDO or DDO.

It also looks like doubling on the wing tips on the reverse, but that may be die deterioration.

Look for doubling in the notches in the motto.
Not a peg leg.
Reverse is MDD.
Still an awesome die crack.

There isnt any separation at the notches of IGWT just a strong extra thickness to the Northeast.

Compared to every other 74-D it's a huge extra thickness. I'm going to post comparative letters of a standard 74-D and this one.
