Unc 1971-S RPM-002

Post by expat »

I was trying to capture the luster on this coin without much success. While trying again I noticed the MM wasn't very clearly punched. So, out with the loupe, and with the area up close saw a die scratch at the 7. It runs from the bottom of the left-side vertical serif of the 7 to the 9. Variety vista RPM-002 is a match to the MM and the die scratch,IMO. Can someone confirm or otherwise, thank you in advance for your attention

I would say, IMHO, that it is not the FS-501.
Nice-looking 71-S! :D

Happy Hunting!

Agree. That is not it.

I always look for the two small parallel die gouges above the "1" and next to the "T". Those are often just visible without magnification.

Thanks guys. I wasn't aware of those other die markers, should have checked other sites, not just Variety Vista

We have a whole drop-down menu of each year/mint for our DIVa attribution. The FS-501 is our 1SB-501.
