Bicentennial P -Missing Obverse and Reverse elements

Post by armandog07 »

I am relatively new in coin collecting, being the reason why I shall appreciate comments/opinions regarding a Bicentennial Eisenhower Dollar recently acquired which, is missing the letters “L” and “I” in the obverse and also missing the lettering in the bell at the reverse. From what I read it might be due to a grease filled die. Photos attached.
Shall appreciate comments/opinions and if, in your opinion, this may add premium to the coin.

I would be pretty confident it's a grease-filled strike. Most all of the other devices are decently struck, which is the indicator for me.

Welcome! :D
I'd second what Andy said. Nice grease filled die.
The 76-P Type 1 is a very tough slot to fill if you are putting together an Ike Error set!

Happy Hunting!
