6D2 Die issue or wire spike throat?

Post by KLFenstermaker »

Found this one this evening. Not sure if it is a die break or maybe wire. Forms a very nice spike.

Nice find.

That is definitely from a die crack. You can see the crack extends much farther by the faint line on the field that leads from the end. I suspect it filled only a short way from the heavy cross section since the crack likely is largest there and gets much thinner further out.

It's possible the rest of the crack being more narrow plugged with metal as well.

ImageWOW!!! THAT'S A GOOD EYE TO FIND THE SMALL THINGS LIKE THAT!! Seeing the hairline crack in the cracked die was even harder but it also makes me think even more now that I do have the dies for the Type1 and Type 2!!I have looked at every single detail on several different coins and everything on the coins matched the dies!!! What do you think?? I would love to know how to have them checked out and how much they are worth... CHECK THEM OUT!!!

You definitely have both types in your pictures. Not sure what you're after - are you saying you don't know how to tell the difference?
